Can I Get My Medications Repeated Without Seeing A Clinician?
Coastal Medical Ltd wants to ensure we are giving you the right medications for your conditions, ensuring they have the right effects and avoiding any unnecessary adverse effects.
Our repeat prescribing is done in accordance with the Medical Council of NZ Statement on Good Prescribing Practice this means:
- To receive a repeat prescription for medication you must be enrolled at the practice and have been assessed by a clinician.
- You will need to consult a clinician regularly to facilitate ongoing repeat prescriptions.
- If your conditions are stable this is generally every 6-12 months.
- If conditions are unstable or other concerns exist this may be shorter.
- The repeat prescription of controlled medications i.e. Opiates (Morphine etc), Benzodiazepines (Lorazepam etc), Stimulants (Ritalin etc) and other medications with abuse potential requires the completion of a controlled drug contract outlining prescribing expectations and rules to avoid potential conflict.
